It's going to be a long day...

I've been up for two hours already - and it's only 5:23 am.

Crazy.

  • There's no way I can form paragraphs on this amount of sleep, so bear with me.
  • Three weeks left before school's out. Count 'em. Three.
  • K. starts a unit on rockets today and is out of his mind excited. Whoever decided to put rockets into the hands of fifth grade boys had to have been nuts. Somebody is sure to put an eye out.
  • Going to a scrapbooking retreat this weekend. Meeting my Mom and friend Jan there. Been assembling pictures and paper and embellishments like a crazy woman. Laid in bed thinking about pictures and paper and embellishments. Couldn't sleep because of pictures and paper and embellishments. Crazy, people.
  • I really want someone who would come to my house twice a week and clean the floors. That's all. Just the floors.
  • Finally finished cleaning out S.'s drawers. Know what was in there making it impossible for her to find anything? Mountains of dirty clothes. I'm still washing. Naughty girl.
  • We had a lovely Memorial Day. The kids all had sleep-overs, so everyone was a little cranky around 4:00 from being up too late, but other than that, we had a quiet day at home with lots of sunshine and barbequed ribs.

How 'bout you?

Happy Tuesday, friends.

Hey Cathy....I was just asking Dee yesterday if you were going crazy getting layouts ready and organized for the crop. Why do I let these things go till the last minute? And why did I say last month that I could work till 1 am, wake up after 3 hours sleep and go BACK to the hospital for 5 hours of meetings today on my only day off before Leavenworth! Who schedules meetings to start at 7am?!!! What was I THINKING?!!! (My personal world view is that "If God had wanted me to see the sunrise, He would have scheduled it later in the day." Looking forward so much to this weekend. I might just get to the point where I throw a ton of paper in my tote with a huge stack of pictures and call it good to go! See ya soon....

  2. Here's a pointer about floor cleaning since I learned this the hard way today: Don't use pledge on hardwood floor entry ways because walking in socks may cause you to slip and fall right on your knee cap. Ouch.

Wow, I woke up at 5 am today with embellishments, pictures, ribbons etc on my brain too Are we addicted or what !
I think I am ready to go but would like to turn out a couple of contest layouts yet. I am doing one on "my" American idol. You will have to wait to see who that is. Any guesses? He wasn't on the show....
Now I have to get the RV ready. This is our first trip out this year so we washed the whole thing outside yesterday. Then I washed all the linens, dishes, restocking food etc besides trying to allow some extra room for some crop supplies. I think it is about ready to go as soon as I finish up some of the prep work for meals.
    See you soon
    Love you

  4. Imagine floors with a 14 month old who throws food on the floor. I need someone to clean my floors 3 times a day. LOL!
Isn't funny, the stuff that keeps us up at night? I can just see an ad on tv: Embellishments keeping you up at night? Hee hee.
Happy Tuesday to you too :)

Have fun this weekend. Had to laugh at your daughters' drawers - Kez has done that a couple times too and I thought maybe she needed to see someone about that(like a psychologist). I never did that as a kid - I leave ALL my dirty clothes on the floor. Only lately have I realized this, since the dog LOVES to chew dirty underwear....eeeewwwwhhh. Don't think about it too long, it is really disgusting.
I am jealous about your creative weekend doing girl stuff - wish it was me...have a great time.

  6. A whole weekend of scrapping? SO! JEALOUS!

I often stay up at night thinking of embellishments, layouts, etc., too. Maybe we should start our own self-help group. We'll call it SA. Scrappers Anonymous.

"Hi, my name is Talena, and I haven't done a layout in 2 days..."

    Hi Cathy,
I'm jealous too of the scrapbooking fun! I started my very first scrapbook yesterday (5/30) and am hooked! My husband made the mistake of getting me premium photo paper. I finally dug out the baby's blank scrapbook and embellishments (a shower gift) and started using my software for some as well. My massage table is now a scrapbook workbench since it's really "my husband's office".
Don't even want to talk about laundry.... Giorgio has grown out of all his newbies and 6 months stuff so I packed it up and found an old co-worker who just had a baby boy! Oh!! the postage that's gonna cost me.
!!!RIBS!!! Did I tell you that's my favorite, especially off the grill?? yummmmy! Wish we were neighbors! Speaking of neighbors and food......
Giovanni has made friends with every child that lives on our street. I thought that was what I wanted - but now.... I just wish he would stay home and watch star wars instead of me trying to chase him down and tell him to quit inviting the world over for dinner. ooohhh the joy of boys.

Getting to know you Wednesday

So it's been awhile. But I thought hearing from ya'll might cheer up my little snow encrusted Spokane self. So today, if I get at least 12 comments, I'll randomly pick one and send that lucky commenter any CD from Your Music . Whatever you want. So today, in light of mid-winter doldrums, I want you to answer the following three questions. To escape mid-winter doldrums, I like to: My favorite winter memory is: I know Spring is coming when: Okay, friends. Now it's your turn. Go to it.

The floodgates have opened.

So, I was doing pretty well managing my emotions. I kept telling people that I had processed a lot of my grieving over Tejan's departure back in January - when we were so close to saying goodbye... and so that must be why I wasn't feeling overly emotional about it this time around. I hadn't shed any tears. Hadn't choked up in that strange, overwhelming way where I feel like my whole head is filling up with fluid and my throat is so constricted I'm just sure I'm going to die. Nope. I was doing just fine. And then I went out to dinner with some girlfriends. And while I was a little socially inept because I'm a kind of overwhelmed and not really wanting to talk too much lately (perhaps in subconscious fear that I might touch on a nerve that would cause my aforementioned steely resolve to crumble) I thought I got through the evening fairly well. I didn't tear up - or need tissue for any fluids defiantly leaking from my facial orifices... until I made the a...
