THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PORTLAND HAS ISSUED A WINTERSTORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 10 PM PSTTHURSDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THURSDAY MORNING. 2 TO 3 INCHES OFSNOW ARE EXPECTED NEAR THE COLUMBIA GORGE AND IN THE LOWERELEVATIONS AROUND PORTLAND WITH 3 TO 6 INCHES IN THE HIGHERHILLS AND IN THE WESTERN AND SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE NORTHERNWILLAMETTE VALLEY. THE SNOW WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY GUSTY EAST WINDSOF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 45 MPH NEAR THE COLUMBIA GORGE.SNOW WILL TURN TO RAIN IN THE LOWEST ELEVATIONS BY THURSDAYEVENING...BUT SNOW SHOWERS ARE STILL POSSIBLE IN THE HIGHER HILLSTHROUGH THE NIGHT.A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW...ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THISWILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS.

Cathy! These pictures are amazingly beautiful. The icicle one is especially cool. You really did get some snow... the weather man didn't lie to me. I see by looking at the pics that you found the winter attire for your kids. That's a good thing (grin). I'm sure they had a blast playing in the first snowfall of the year.
