Two, two, two mints in one!

Don't ask me what that title is all about. I was thinking about it being Tuesday, and that's what came out.

Several things on my mind today... so it's a great day for bullet points.

  • The Pub over at Two Peas is a mess. It's call time for the big Hall of Fame contest. Entrants were expecting the calls to start yesterday - and here it is 2:30 on Tuesday and nothin'. I'm SO glad I didn't enter this year. I don't need all that nervous energy. Last year I was a basket case, wishing and wondering. This year I'm simply amused by the forced wait and eager to see who's going to win.
  • I got five new CD's in the mail yesterday. I love getting new music. My favorites? The Battle for Everything by Five for Fighting and Add to the Beauty by Sara Groves. Good stuff.
  • I am currently washing the bathroom rug after discovering a schmear of you know what on it yesterday. I don't know who is responsible, and I don't want to know. The real news here is that last night when we were getting ready for bed Asia asked "Where's the rug?" and I said "I took it downstairs to the laundry room because it had (you know what) on it." His response? "Oh yea, I tried to get that off with a wipe." AND THEN HE APPARENTLY DECIDED TO LEAVE IT THERE ON THE FLOOR WHEN HE WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. I live with a caveman, people. Un-freaking-believable.
  • Just when I got all the kids healthy and back in school, the dog had to get sick. Fever, diarhea and vomiting. Lovely. She went to the vet this morning and has a bacterial infection and worms. Geez.
  • I'm Momma to four kids this week, since we're taking care of one of E's best friends whose parents took off for a week together in Canada. It's no big deal, just another mouth to feed, and he's a fun kid, so we'll be fine. I just want to know when I get to go to Canada for a week with my husband!
  • Church was amazing Sunday. Our pastor just got home from a three week trip to Europe to observe the post-modern church there. He is fired up and full of radical ideas about incarnational ministry -going TO the lost instead of building a nice church and hoping they'll COME to us. I was so excited about his sermon I could hardly contain myself. I'll post a link as soon as the MP3 goes up on the website. I want every Christian I know to hear it. It's revolutionary and so full of God I can hardly stand it. Amazing, folks.
  • Spring is technically less than a week away, but someone needs to tell the piles of snow in my front yard about it. I'm SO ready to wear capris and flip-flops. And see some color in the world outside. Spokane in winter is very grey. Even the grass is grey. Seriously hoping for some color in Portland this weekend.

So there you have it. My thoughts for the day, rockin' the fab for you once again.

Now move along folks.

Oh- do I have stories, my friend. My toilet stories could make mothers around the world shriek and cry...I have 3 boys and one is aptly named The Clogger. Need I say more?
Where in europe did your pastor go? I have buttloads of friends doing the postmodern thing all over the world, so I would love to hear the details. Europe is great breeding ground for church outside the walls of a building- we north americans still have a deep love for the institution. I think a huge reason for coming to the new world was religious freedom - because in Europe they were telling you which church you MUST attend and people got sick of it....we haven't got there yet, but it is a coming. good to hear you excited. chat soon.

  3. Portland has a bit of color, but not much. We also had spits of snow last week. Crazy!
Your title made me sit right up. I ALWAYS say that! "Two, Two mints in one" and no one knows what I'm talking about.
    Thanks. :)

  4. Corey - He was is The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland. His stories from Amsterdam were SO amazing. Of course, my seive of a brain can't remember the names of the people there but when the MP3 goes up, you'll have to have a listen.

I'm only one boy less than you in this house... aren't they just gross?

  5. Cathy, I love Sara Groves' "Add to the Beauty". It's been one of my soundtrack cds the last while. Her lyrics describe so much of what I have begun to experience lately.

We just started a coffeehouse in the middle of the worst area of town so the people will come to us... and are partnering with our local "life enrichment center" where we can see them daily... its about time churches get off the pews and into the world. :D

Somebody got a new toy...

Phlumpyschlumpy.

Good morning, peeps. It's Friday. There's frost outside this morning. *FROST!* This week has been ridiculously chilly. I'm having mixed feelings about blogging lately. Mostly because I feel like all I've been doing is whine about being tired. Or overwhelmed. And because comments are lacking. And because I can't seem to think about anything to write about except Tejan. And because some of the thoughts I'm having are too private for the blog - or too repetitive. Or too unformed to turn into actual words you all could understand. So I'm struggling a bit. And yet, I'm committed to documenting the process I'm in. So I'll keep writing when the words come. And when they don't, like this morning, when I looked at that intimidating blinking cursor and my mind went blank and I started to break out in a cold sweat and began by talking about the weather... well, then, I'll just gracefully (or not so gracefully) back out of the room... tail between m...

Missoula Children's Theater

Last week Savannah and Ethan were both cast in their school's Missoula Children's Theater production of Red Riding Hood. Savannah was cast as Mother Hood and the Grandmother, and Ethan was Robin Hood - the Hood family's cousin from England. After five days of intense rehearsing, (four and a half hours every day after school) they were ready for two shows on Saturday afternoon. It was so fun for them. And fun for me, as I was one of two parent volunteers with the privilege of being at every rehearsal. I come from my own childhood experience of many opportunities with theater and musicals, so watching them experience the thrill of performing was awesome. It was an amazing week. I'm so glad they had the chance to do it. I loved that instead of having to commit to weeks and weeks of rehearsals, they just had to do this one really intense week. A full scale musical production without a month of rehearsing and I didn't have to sew any costumes! That's my kind of pla...
