Ten from work

  1. Blogging from work seems so scandalous. But I can whip out a Tuesday Ten between customers and when I need to rest my legs for a minute, right? And besides, I have to check the online shop anyway for orders. That's why I'm online, people.
  2. New product coming out soon with the CHA Summer trade show. We're seeing sneak peeks every day. It's a killer. I'm dying for the new Scenic Route. Be still my heart - I love paper.
  3. I make an awful lot of banana baked goods. This is because I love bananas, but only if they're not green at all. Three or four brown spots makes a perfect banana, in my book. Problem is, bananas stay in that state for roughly three minutes, and then the whole bunch goes bad - too ripe for even my taste. So I make banana bread. And muffins. Yesterday it was a cake. Yum. I think I need to just buy two bananas at a time or something silly like that - then I could eat them all before they were all brown and mushy.
  4. I found big bags of bark mulch on sale for $3 apiece yesterday - so I bought five bags. Now I really do need to weed so I can put out my mulch. (You'll have to come by when I'm done, Ann - you'll be so proud!)
  5. Can you believe we're already thinking about Christmas classes here at the store? Crazy.
  6. Why is it that the older I get the earlier I wake up in the morning? It's not at all unusual for me to wake up at 5:30 in the morning, fully rested and ready to start my day. When I was in my 20's 5:30 might have just as well been 2:00 am - no way I would have ever gotten up then. Weird.
  7. Kyler is beside himself with excitement because he now has enough money to buy a Nintendo Wi. He can hardly contain himself, waiting for someone to take him to the store. I think he'll have to wait until the weekend... not sure how he's going to be able to stand that...
  8. I love dining al fresco.
  9. Our neighbors are painting their house this week. Mustard yellow with green trim. I'm glad, because this is the house I see right outside my living room window, and the colors will coordinate beautifully with my decor. Much, much better than the blue I've been looking at for 8 years.
  10. One hour at work - one customer. This could be a S-L-O-W day.

Happy Tuesday, chums.

  4. hey you...
    we have wii...
and did you know you can freeze bananas? if you are going to bake with them or use them in shakes.
In the skin, they turn all black, but the inside stays just as it was. Then squeeze it out into baked goods or a smoothie (makes very frothy smoothies). hope that helps the banana situation.

Getting to know you Wednesday

So it's been awhile. But I thought hearing from ya'll might cheer up my little snow encrusted Spokane self. So today, if I get at least 12 comments, I'll randomly pick one and send that lucky commenter any CD from Your Music . Whatever you want. So today, in light of mid-winter doldrums, I want you to answer the following three questions. To escape mid-winter doldrums, I like to: My favorite winter memory is: I know Spring is coming when: Okay, friends. Now it's your turn. Go to it.

The floodgates have opened.

So, I was doing pretty well managing my emotions. I kept telling people that I had processed a lot of my grieving over Tejan's departure back in January - when we were so close to saying goodbye... and so that must be why I wasn't feeling overly emotional about it this time around. I hadn't shed any tears. Hadn't choked up in that strange, overwhelming way where I feel like my whole head is filling up with fluid and my throat is so constricted I'm just sure I'm going to die. Nope. I was doing just fine. And then I went out to dinner with some girlfriends. And while I was a little socially inept because I'm a kind of overwhelmed and not really wanting to talk too much lately (perhaps in subconscious fear that I might touch on a nerve that would cause my aforementioned steely resolve to crumble) I thought I got through the evening fairly well. I didn't tear up - or need tissue for any fluids defiantly leaking from my facial orifices... until I made the a...
