MMMMMMMMMMM-Monday

The last day of July.

I can hardly believe it...

School starts 5 weeks from tomorrow.

I had a fairly exhausting weekend, with a bunch of emotional stuff going on. I'm still processing a lot of it, but am reassured that God is by my side and holding my hand... it's all good.

I teach twice this week and then have the rest of the month of August off from teaching. August is always slow at the store. And I'm afraid it may be slow here at home too as I push through to the end of summer. Asia travels a bunch this month... it could be a looooonnnnnng month. I'll have to figure out some clever ways to keep us all from going crazy.

The heat has finally passed us by. Yesterday the high was only 70 degrees. It's supposed to be in the 80's all week. I'm so thankful. I really don't function well in weather over 90 degrees. Can you say cranky? It's great to have it cool enough that I feel like I can turn the oven on and cook dinner without baking the whole family in the process. I even made a coffee cake for breakfast yesterday.

Gracie's birthday is coming up... of course, the kids want to have a full out party for her. I'm not sure I'm up for that, but it is hard to believe she'll be a year old already. Of course, we didn't get her until she was seven weeks old, so she won't celebrate her anniversary with us until September, but her birthday is still apparently reason to celebrate. We'll have to go buy her some new toys or something, I guess. Who knew I'd be planning doggie parties? Silly.

Tons of laundry to do today. And vacuuming. And 'school' for the kids - we've been out of our normal routine with vacation and VBS last week. It's going to be good to settle down again into our normal summer schedule for a couple more weeks.

Time to get the kids up. Happy Monday - my favorite day of the week...

Cathy is there no end to your artistic talents, a great scrapbooker and photographer. If your nephew needs a album cover he has you to take the picture. We have to get you to North Carolina to take Kellys author picture for the backcover of Martin Loudmouth.

I love it when people talk back...

It came out of the faucet that way.

It's been months since I've had a "Getting to Know You Wednesday." Life's been a little crazy. So today, when life is a little bit calm and I've got the least chaotic week I've had for ages, I thought I'd jump back in. So today, if you leave me a comment telling me your most favorite-ist movie line ever, I'll enter you in a drawing for your very own copy of Josh Groban's new Christmas CD - Noel . It's a good one, folks. Classic holiday music from such a wonderful vocalist... you'll like it, I promise. I just want one movie line. Not your three favorite... not a paragraph. Just one line. The one you find yourself repeating. The one that makes you laugh every time. Your very favorite movie line of all time. And if you're the first person to name the movie my title is from, you'll get an extra entry in the drawing. Now, let's hear it.

30,000? For real?

So, if you scroll down to the bottom of this here blog, you'll see that I'm probably just a day or two from reaching 30,000 hits. That's just freaky. And in just under 2 years. (I didn't add the counter until after I'd been blogging for several months...) So in honor of almost reaching that milestone, this weeks 'getting to know you Wednesday' question is this: What would you do if you won $30,000? I like this question, because it's not an overwhelming number, and therefore not brain-freeze inducing. It's big enough to be able to accomplish some nice little projects around the house, but not so large that you have to worry about your third cousins from the Ozarks showing up on your doorstep looking for cash so they can put veneers on their teeth. Answer my question this week and you'll be entered in a drawing for 30 special little trinkets in a lovely little goody box. (And when I say trinkets, I mean trinkets. We're talking 30 little lovelie

Phlumpyschlumpy.

Good morning, peeps. It's Friday. There's frost outside this morning. *FROST!* This week has been ridiculously chilly. I'm having mixed feelings about blogging lately. Mostly because I feel like all I've been doing is whine about being tired. Or overwhelmed. And because comments are lacking. And because I can't seem to think about anything to write about except Tejan. And because some of the thoughts I'm having are too private for the blog - or too repetitive. Or too unformed to turn into actual words you all could understand. So I'm struggling a bit. And yet, I'm committed to documenting the process I'm in. So I'll keep writing when the words come. And when they don't, like this morning, when I looked at that intimidating blinking cursor and my mind went blank and I started to break out in a cold sweat and began by talking about the weather... well, then, I'll just gracefully (or not so gracefully) back out of the room... tail between m
