Tuesday Ten

  1. I measured K. yesterday, just out of curiosity. He's grown an inch and a half since February. Three inches since the beginning of the school year. He is now 5'6". Somebody stop this kid from growing! He'll pass me up by the end of the year at this rate...
  2. I had a good little chat with Asia's little brother this morning via Messenger. He's such a great guy. 30 years old, single, cute as all get out... We get to see him when we're in Florida pre and post-cruise. Can't wait.
  3. I really like butter.
  4. Been thinking a lot about my husband the last couple days after a lively discussion about marriage with some good internet friends recently. I am so thankful for him. And for the relationship we have. I am SO blessed.
  5. So so sad for all the families who lost loved ones in Virginia. I cannot fathom the scope of what this one disturbed person did. Why take so many others with you? I just don't get it.
  6. It's free cone day at Ben and Jerry's. I think I'll pick the kids up from school and take them straight there. We can't pass up free B & J.
  7. The bad thing about making lots of $$$ on ebay? I've got to go to the post office. I'm not sure if it's worth it. I hate the post office.
  8. I know what I'll do... I'll pick a random commenter and send a little goodie box to someone... that will make it more fun, eh? Leave me a comment here and I'll pick someone on Thursday... Ready?
  9. Set?
  10. GO!

    Hi Cathy,
I would love to be the one to get the little package but Argentina is a bit far I suppose. I´m with you on being blessed by a good husband. Your blog is always a bright spot in my day.

Free Ben and Jerry's? How could I not know this! Oh well, with two ballet dancers in the house it is probably a good thing to not know. Tell Kyler he passed me up in the height department 5" ago.

  9. I forgot about the free Ben & Jerry's days!
I need to add it to the list of things I'm forgetting lately ;0)

On a serious note, I was very upset about the shootings in VA.
I don't even know anyone personally involved but in a way it does involve us all. It's so hard to understand the violence and the reasons sometimes.

    And I agree about marriage.
I've realized the past few days that despite the harder days, I am really blessed in the marriage department.

  11. What a funny way to get comments! I always evaluate my self worth on the basis of how many comments I get. I don't get many! If I get 5, I feel like a much-loved-blogger.
The whole marriage thing? I have no idea. No one wants to marry me. It's tragic.

What a sneaky and fun way to find out who is reading your blog.
Isn't it funny, how people love a chance to win something !
Here's my comment so I have a chance....

I've been thinking about what happened in Virginia....33 families are in such pain now. And the people who were injured ....I read that several people jumped from the second floor window of their class room. I also read that the shooter was a loner and didn't talk to people. But although we'll never know why he did it for sure, I think he was hurting so much, he wanted people to notice him. What people do when in pain I've learned is truly amazing (not always in the good sense.)

Your Mom and I have been power laying out (is that a word?) Getting ready for Leavenworth.

And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the post office. The people are friendly and although it annoys me the price of stamps is going up (AGAIN!!!) it is sort of cool that for 39 ¢, they'll pick up a letter at my house, transport it across the country, and deliver it to the house of a friend in Washington DC.

  16. Hey Cathy!

Such a fun way to get comments, huh? Were you following Ali's blog when she generated close to 2000 comments when she was giving something away? Isn't that insane?!

I'm on the homestretch! (31 1/2 weeks and counting.....)

It came out of the faucet that way.

It's been months since I've had a "Getting to Know You Wednesday." Life's been a little crazy. So today, when life is a little bit calm and I've got the least chaotic week I've had for ages, I thought I'd jump back in. So today, if you leave me a comment telling me your most favorite-ist movie line ever, I'll enter you in a drawing for your very own copy of Josh Groban's new Christmas CD - Noel . It's a good one, folks. Classic holiday music from such a wonderful vocalist... you'll like it, I promise. I just want one movie line. Not your three favorite... not a paragraph. Just one line. The one you find yourself repeating. The one that makes you laugh every time. Your very favorite movie line of all time. And if you're the first person to name the movie my title is from, you'll get an extra entry in the drawing. Now, let's hear it.

Are you ready for this?

How did it get to be Wednesday? Seriously. There aren't enough hours in the day - even when you're up at 2:00 am. And no - I didn't get up at 2:00 this morning. I slept all the way until 5:00! Anywho - I decided I needed something new to blog. Something to shake you all out of your 'thoughts from the deep recesses' stupor. Something to get your blood pumping and your fingers tingling. Something to inspire long and meaningful comments. From you. My beloved readers. It's a new weekly Thoughts From the Deep Recesses feature. It's "Getting to Know you Wednesday" Now this could either be lots of fun, or it could just totally flop, and I could go to bed crying because my blog readers are a bunch of takers who only come here to read and never interact. Like a piece of fresh fruit, you squeeze the juice out of my hard-written and well thought out posts and then you toss them aside, wandering on to the next blog with a simple click of your mouse. Good morning, peeps. It's Friday. There's frost outside this morning. *FROST!* This week has been ridiculously chilly. I'm having mixed feelings about blogging lately. Mostly because I feel like all I've been doing is whine about being tired. Or overwhelmed. And because comments are lacking. And because I can't seem to think about anything to write about except Tejan. And because some of the thoughts I'm having are too private for the blog - or too repetitive. Or too unformed to turn into actual words you all could understand. So I'm struggling a bit. And yet, I'm committed to documenting the process I'm in. So I'll keep writing when the words come. And when they don't, like this morning, when I looked at that intimidating blinking cursor and my mind went blank and I started to break out in a cold sweat and began by talking about the weather... well, then, I'll just gracefully (or not so gracefully) back out of the room... tail between m
