On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate this Tuesday a 9!

  1. Savannah is home sick today - missing her classroom Christmas party - and watching The Price is Right. I have so many memories of watching The Price is Right when I was home sick from school... I have to say, it's just not the same without Bob.
  2. I had to greet the Dish Network repairman this morning before I had my shower. Ugh. Can you say ugly? I hate having repairmen in my house - but especially when I look like a pathetic housewife who doesn't shower.
  3. How cute are those Coke polar bears? Seriously.
  4. Tejan flies to Seattle tomorrow to spend 6 days with friends there... we'll pick him up on Christmas Eve.
  5. The presents are about half wrapped. I decided a couple of years ago to forego the bows. They're expensive and they make it hard to stack packages. I put wired ribbon around a few packages, but I don't do bows anymore. Call me scrooge. I'm just not doing it.
  6. We're furniture shopping... Asia told me I could pick out a chair for the living room or a new kitchen table for my Christmas present... we probably won't buy anything until January when the sales are good and Costco gets in their big after-Christmas furniture shipments... I have a love/hate relationship with furniture shopping. It's just SO expensive. It makes me feel sick to my stomach.
  7. Asia and I started watching 'Duel' last night. I'm not much for evening game shows usually - but this one only goes for about a week and I like the format. However, I do not like how much time the host wastes keeping everyone in suspense. Sheesh. Get on with it.
  8. Sugar cookies today. Butter anyone? YUM!
  9. Nope. Not gonna make it to 10 today. Happy Tuesday, everyone!

I'm with you on the whole trend in game shows and reality shows to keep you in suspense. Come on, folks. Get on with it. I refuse to watch these shows because I get so frustrated by it.

  2. I have fond memories too of The Price is Right. I loved the showcase showdowns. :)
I long ago gave up on adding bows too. Haven't seen Duel yet, but the boys are enthralled with Deal or No Deal. I think they just like saying it. :)

  3. I don't even wrap anymore. Here in Argentina they wrap all the packages when you buy them. That isn't just for Christmas it is all year long. Yippee.

  4. This is how I found out that Lucille Ball had died- I was home sick in 8th grade maybe and after the credits rolled, her years of life flashed on the screen.
Anyways, we don't do bows either, but only because little ones are atrracted to them and tear those bad boys right off. Can you say digital nametags?

I do bows, just because I like to make pretty ones! It's a compulsion... the gift isn't 'as good' without pretty bows!! :) Many a Christmas the kids got only 1 or 2 gifts, so the prettier the package the more magical! I got new furniture for the first time in my whole adult life last summer! No more couch covers!!! The price made me sick...ugh, but I was SO thrilled.. still am! and Bob... oh Bob. I do miss Bob.

Getting to know you Wednesday

So it's been awhile. But I thought hearing from ya'll might cheer up my little snow encrusted Spokane self. So today, if I get at least 12 comments, I'll randomly pick one and send that lucky commenter any CD from Your Music . Whatever you want. So today, in light of mid-winter doldrums, I want you to answer the following three questions. To escape mid-winter doldrums, I like to: My favorite winter memory is: I know Spring is coming when: Okay, friends. Now it's your turn. Go to it.

The floodgates have opened.

So, I was doing pretty well managing my emotions. I kept telling people that I had processed a lot of my grieving over Tejan's departure back in January - when we were so close to saying goodbye... and so that must be why I wasn't feeling overly emotional about it this time around. I hadn't shed any tears. Hadn't choked up in that strange, overwhelming way where I feel like my whole head is filling up with fluid and my throat is so constricted I'm just sure I'm going to die. Nope. I was doing just fine. And then I went out to dinner with some girlfriends. And while I was a little socially inept because I'm a kind of overwhelmed and not really wanting to talk too much lately (perhaps in subconscious fear that I might touch on a nerve that would cause my aforementioned steely resolve to crumble) I thought I got through the evening fairly well. I didn't tear up - or need tissue for any fluids defiantly leaking from my facial orifices... until I made the a...
