And then she was forty.

I am now forty years old. Or at least by the time I push the publish button, I will be... 9:38 p.m. was the official time, I was reminded today by my dear mom.
So forty....  Feels quite a bit older than 39. Older than I thought it would feel. Although it's just a day older than yesterday.
And ten years from fifty.
But let's not think about that right now.
I had a lovely weekend, beginning with a surprise party thrown by Asia at our dear friends, Asher and Mia's house. I was surrounded by loads of lovely friends and had sweet gifts and lots of laughter. I was frankly blown away by the fact that Asia managed to plan the whole thing - including decorations, catering (yes, he paid to feed about 30 people. I told him that was the sweetest thing he'd ever done...) and I never suspected a thing. He pulled it off with style. I was honored.
Yesterday at work I was again celebrated by the lovely women I've been teaching for the last five years.
And today, I opened the presents I've been collecting from friends all week and from the kids... then took a walk with Asia and went out to dinner with the family.
All in all - it was a lovely way to mark the passing of another decade.
I've always said I was looking forward to my 40's.
So tomorrow we'll begin to see how that pans out.
I just can hardly believe it. It's truly grown up, you know.
Forty.
Wow.

    Welcome to the club! I "hit the mark" in Sept. I find myself "waxing nostalgic" much more than I used to, not sure why, it is just a number and I still expect to see 26 yr. old me when I look in the mirror. Maybe my body is finally adjusting to the daily shock of not seeing her there! I am trying to embrace it. Aging is a gift not afforded to everyone, so I vow to try to embrace my age, own my years and love it. The months since my birthday have not been wonderful physically which has added to my "feeling old" but things are improving and vow to be healthier at 41!

    Happy Birthday!! How special that Asia did that for you. I will turn the big 4-0 in May. Hoping to make a trip home in June and me and my sis and law want to go on a road trip to see Corey. You should come!! It would be great to meet you. Blessings to you on the coming year.

30,000? For real?

So, if you scroll down to the bottom of this here blog, you'll see that I'm probably just a day or two from reaching 30,000 hits. That's just freaky. And in just under 2 years. (I didn't add the counter until after I'd been blogging for several months...) So in honor of almost reaching that milestone, this weeks 'getting to know you Wednesday' question is this: What would you do if you won $30,000? I like this question, because it's not an overwhelming number, and therefore not brain-freeze inducing. It's big enough to be able to accomplish some nice little projects around the house, but not so large that you have to worry about your third cousins from the Ozarks showing up on your doorstep looking for cash so they can put veneers on their teeth. Are you ready for this?

How did it get to be Wednesday? Seriously. There aren't enough hours in the day - even when you're up at 2:00 am. And no - I didn't get up at 2:00 this morning. I slept all the way until 5:00! Anywho - I decided I needed something new to blog. Something to shake you all out of your 'thoughts from the deep recesses' stupor. Something to get your blood pumping and your fingers tingling.
