Ten on Tuesday

  1. First of all, I took pictures to share with this post. And they won't upload. Can we all just sigh heavily together in frustration? As much as I like the free-ness of blogger, sometimes the picture issues drive me crazy. There. Vent over. Now I feel a little better.
  2. We had an injured Jack in the front yard this morning. (Remember, Jack is the name of every neighborhood squirrel - it was E's genious idea to name them all Jack so we don't get confused...) Poor thing had a broken back leg. Gracie, of course, wanted outside so she could have it for breakfast, and the kids all wanted me to rescue it and take it to the vet. I can hardly get Asia to pay the dog's vet bills - I know he'd freak if I took a squirrel to the vet. We watched it carefully, and it somehow managed to get up a tree with it's three good legs. It was gone when I got home from taking the kids to school. Poor thing. I doubt it can survive long. I'm just glad I didn't have to touch it, or be the one to put it out of it's misery... ew.
  3. Oprah started yesterday. It was kind of an "eh" premiere, I thought. I tape Oprah every day, and then end up deleting more than half of the shows, because they aren't anything I want to watch. But I hate to miss a good Oprah. This system works for me.
  4. Bought a new sweater for Gracie today. She outgrew her one from last year, and her little short-haired self gets cold in our Spokane winters. I had a picture to share... but, well, you know.
  5. My single mom friend Kelly is positively being picked up on in her comments section. It's too funny. He seems like a nice enough guy. But this is the internet, people. Yikes!
  6. I've picked up some awesome Halloween possibilities at garage sales lately. I found a great alien mask and some hilarious hippy wigs. It feels so good to basically have Halloween costumes figured out already - and it's not even October!
  7. I've been wanting to bake lately - like every day. Problem is, I'm doing Weight Watchers, and Asia's gone, and the kids don't need tons of sweets. I get to take treats to bible study tomorrow - so I'll get to bake then. I just want to smell cinnamon and apples and yummy stuff wafting from the oven... it's that time of year.
  8. The crows are back. Every fall they come... so creepy...
  9. I prefer the brown 'indian corn' candy corn. How about you?
  10. If you didn't see my brother Ken's comment on my Flashback Friday post, I have to tell you, it made me laugh out loud. Literally. And then I have to tell you, if you do go read it, you won't understand it. Unless you went to Astoria High School... Thanks for the laugh, big brother.

  1. Yes, friend, this is more attention than I've had in years. My blog site is too much fun!
But, wait, there's more. We SO have to talk!

  2. What?

    More? Oh - do tell!

  3. Ditto on taping Oprah- then I can weed out the ones I want to watch (or vice versa). All I really care about is her favorite things show, anyway. I know, how superficial.

  4. Maybe I should stop saying ditto on your blog... it's just that I agree!

    YES, YES, YES
The brown Indian corn wins our votes. The big orange pumpkins are too big and too sweet but those little delicate brown candy corn are divine. (Does this sound like a Weight Watchers leader ??)
Every fall we watch for them in the stores. Usually we don't buy them because we know we can't control them but it is just a comfort thing to know they are back again this fall - I LOVE FALL.

I found the Oprah show a little too much like "Guess what I did last summer..." with too many "trials" that are not real for us common folks. I would LOVE a road trip with just me and my friend and no mini van or dogs or kids fighting in the back...my friend could sing anything she wanted!!!
Our ravens here in the Rockies look like birds of prey... they are HUGE and I have watched one tear to pieces a very large rat. I fear for my pugs' life regularly.
I am with you on the baking thing. I am planning to make pumpkin loaf and apple loaf this week... I have B and B guests though this weekend that will help with the consumption.
I love the fall as well, although we had a foot of snow last week - so fall has been bipassed once again... oh well, christmas is coming!!!

It came out of the faucet that way.

It's been months since I've had a "Getting to Know You Wednesday." Life's been a little crazy. So today, when life is a little bit calm and I've got the least chaotic week I've had for ages, I thought I'd jump back in. So today, if you leave me a comment telling me your most favorite-ist movie line ever, I'll enter you in a drawing for your very own copy of Josh Groban's new Christmas CD - Noel . It's a good one, folks. Classic holiday music from such a wonderful vocalist... you'll like it, I promise. I just want one movie line. Not your three favorite... not a paragraph. Just one line. The one you find yourself repeating. The one that makes you laugh every time. Your very favorite movie line of all time. And if you're the first person to name the movie my title is from, you'll get an extra entry in the drawing. Now, let's hear it.

Are you ready for this?

How did it get to be Wednesday? Seriously. There aren't enough hours in the day - even when you're up at 2:00 am. And no - I didn't get up at 2:00 this morning. I slept all the way until 5:00! Anywho - I decided I needed something new to blog. Something to shake you all out of your 'thoughts from the deep recesses' stupor. Something to get your blood pumping and your fingers tingling. Something to inspire long and meaningful comments. From you. My beloved readers. It's a new weekly Thoughts From the Deep Recesses feature. It's "Getting to Know you Wednesday" Now this could either be lots of fun, or it could just totally flop, and I could go to bed crying because my blog readers are a bunch of takers who only come here to read and never interact. Like a piece of fresh fruit, you squeeze the juice out of my hard-written and well thought out posts and then you toss them aside, wandering on to the next blog with a simple click of your mouse. Good morning, peeps. It's Friday. There's frost outside this morning. *FROST!* This week has been ridiculously chilly. I'm having mixed feelings about blogging lately. Mostly because I feel like all I've been doing is whine about being tired. Or overwhelmed. And because comments are lacking. And because I can't seem to think about anything to write about except Tejan. And because some of the thoughts I'm having are too private for the blog - or too repetitive. Or too unformed to turn into actual words you all could understand. So I'm struggling a bit. And yet, I'm committed to documenting the process I'm in. So I'll keep writing when the words come. And when they don't, like this morning, when I looked at that intimidating blinking cursor and my mind went blank and I started to break out in a cold sweat and began by talking about the weather... well, then, I'll just gracefully (or not so gracefully) back out of the room... tail between m
