Saturday blah-blah-blahing

Asia is off playing tennis and the kids have each picked their favorite cartoons to watch.

I've had my cup of coffee and really need to go take a shower... it's hard for me to stay in my pajamas for very long. I know lots of women who will choose to spend the day in pj's, but I just can't do it. Gotta get my jeans on and at least wash my face or I feel sub-human. However, for now, I'm still in my new Christmas jammies - which are pink fleece with green and white polka-dots. I'm really a sight to see. And no. I won't be posting pictures.

I'm excited to have some time today to start in on a new little creative venture... I joined an "Art Journal Challenge" , an online class taught by a fabulous British woman whose stuff I've admired over the last year. It's a class with weekly prompts and a gallery where those participating can upload their journal entries. It's part of my effort to stretch myself creatively this year. Today I'm going to go buy my journal and work on my first entry. Fun.

I've decided not to enter the Hall of Fame contest this year. I spent some time working on my entry this week and it just wasn't flowing. Nothing came together the way I hoped it would. My mojo has taken up and gone somewhere sunny, I suspect. That's okay. I'll wait for it to return and work on some other stuff in the meantime. I'll for sure be more relaxed when call week starts - and that's a good thing.

Asia and I have been discussing our annual Valentine party - for the last five years we've thrown a rip-roaring event in our home for a large group of our dearest friends. It's always loads of fun, with mountains of delicious food and tons of laughter. However, with the events of the past year, it seems like this may be the year to let it quietly become a tradition of the past. Because of the changes we've gone through and the natural progression of some of our relationships, it seems like it may be easier to just not try to force it. Like maybe, it was a good thing when it happened naturally because of our associations with people, but to try to pull everyone together now would be too hard... oh I don't know. As we get to know new people from our new church, we are naturally going to want to invite them, but what to do with the old friends who have come every year? It's just awkward and weird. It's a dilemma. What would you do?

It sure would be a good day to go out for coffee. Anyone want to join me?

Love to you all - (if you're doing the Me Challenge, I'd love to see your work... hint hint)

Toodles.

Hey, Cathy....LOVE the photo of Ethan and Gracey. I like his little hand on her head. And doesn't that look like a contented puppy? (Have you seen the show "Dog Whisperer" on TV? Great show.)

Awe shucks. I want to see a picture of you in your jams. That would be something I'd make a return visit to glance at over and over again.

As for the coffee: I would have joined you. Some days are just crying out to be coffee and friends sort of days.

Somebody got a new toy...

Phlumpyschlumpy.

Good morning, peeps. It's Friday. There's frost outside this morning. *FROST!* This week has been ridiculously chilly. I'm having mixed feelings about blogging lately. Mostly because I feel like all I've been doing is whine about being tired. Or overwhelmed. And because comments are lacking. And because I can't seem to think about anything to write about except Tejan. And because some of the thoughts I'm having are too private for the blog - or too repetitive. Or too unformed to turn into actual words you all could understand. So I'm struggling a bit. And yet, I'm committed to documenting the process I'm in. So I'll keep writing when the words come. And when they don't, like this morning, when I looked at that intimidating blinking cursor and my mind went blank and I started to break out in a cold sweat and began by talking about the weather... well, then, I'll just gracefully (or not so gracefully) back out of the room... tail between m...

Missoula Children's Theater

Last week Savannah and Ethan were both cast in their school's Missoula Children's Theater production of Red Riding Hood. Savannah was cast as Mother Hood and the Grandmother, and Ethan was Robin Hood - the Hood family's cousin from England. After five days of intense rehearsing, (four and a half hours every day after school) they were ready for two shows on Saturday afternoon. It was so fun for them. And fun for me, as I was one of two parent volunteers with the privilege of being at every rehearsal. I come from my own childhood experience of many opportunities with theater and musicals, so watching them experience the thrill of performing was awesome. It was an amazing week. I'm so glad they had the chance to do it. I loved that instead of having to commit to weeks and weeks of rehearsals, they just had to do this one really intense week. A full scale musical production without a month of rehearsing and I didn't have to sew any costumes! That's my kind of pla...
