Are you ready for this?

How did it get to be Wednesday? Seriously. There aren't enough hours in the day - even when you're up at 2:00 am.

And no - I didn't get up at 2:00 this morning. I slept all the way until 5:00!

Anywho - I decided I needed something new to blog.
Something to shake you all out of your 'thoughts from the deep recesses' stupor.
Something to get your blood pumping and your fingers tingling.
Something to inspire long and meaningful comments.
From you.
My beloved readers.

It's a new weekly Thoughts From the Deep Recesses feature.

It's "Getting to Know you Wednesday"

Now this could either be lots of fun, or it could just totally flop, and I could go to bed crying because my blog readers are a bunch of takers who only come here to read and never interact. Like a piece of fresh fruit, you squeeze the juice out of my hard-written and well thought out posts and then you toss them aside, wandering on to the next blog with a simple click of your mouse.

You read me. You know me. You've seen my highs and lows. You've read me through depression, through leaving the ex-church, through sorrow and despair. You've read funny stories about my three darling children. Read about my marriage. My vacations. My hopes and dreams and aspirations.

And what do I get from you?

Well, from some of you, I get regular comments.
And from others, I get occasional comments.
From some of you, I get nothin'.

Now, I pulled a lot of you out of the woodwork with the promise of a prize. A goodie box. Oh sure - I get oodles of comments when there's something in it for you...

So here's the deal.

Every Wednesday, I'm going to post three multiple choice questions.

Questions for YOU to answer.

They're multiple choice, because I figure that will make it easier for those of you who fear the comments section. All you have to do is type in three letters.

But if you're a person who can type more than three measly letters, feel free to embellish your answers. You're not limited to your multiple choice options. You can answer however you like.

And here's the deal.

If I get at least 12 comments, all the commenters will be entered in a drawing for a fabulous prize.

This week: a $10 Starbucks card.

Yes. I'm bribing you. Just so I can get to know you.

Because I need more friends.
And because I want there to be just a little more give and take around here.

I know. I'm still giving you more than I'm receiving. All you have to do is type in three letters. I have to maintain a blog - write entertaining posts to keep you coming back - take interesting and well composed photos - remember minute details so I can regale you with all the hilarities of my life - AND spend my hard earned cash to try to induce some sort of meaningful interaction around here.

But it's okay. I just want to hear from you.

I may up the ante after awhile - raise it to 15 commenters. But for now I'll go easy on you. I get about 50 hits a day - so I know there are 12 of you who can comment.

So here we go.

The first 3 questions of "Getting to Know You Wednesday."

1. If you had to be in a holding pattern for 2 hours on a plane, who would you rather be seated next to?

a)Sanjaya Malakar

b)Rosie O'Donnell

c)Michael Jackson

d)Dom Deluise

2. You're on a cruise and can have anything you want for breakfast. You choose:

a)Coffee and a danish delivered to your room.

b)Scrambled eggs, ham and hashbrowns in the dining room.

c)Orange juice, fruit and yogurt on the Lido deck.

d)Buffet, baby! Three plates heaped full of whatever you can get your hands on.

3. I read "Thoughts From the Deep Recesses" because:

a)I'm at work and I really don't want to do what I'm supposed to be doing right now.

b)I'm hoping against hope that Cathy will someday share her wonderful meatloaf recipe with the world .

c)It's an obligatory thing. Cathy reads my blog, so I read hers.

d)What's 'Thoughts From the Deep Recesses?'

So there you have it. It's in your hands people.

If you don't have a blogger account, you can comment anonymously. But be sure to sign your name in the body of you comment or else I won't know who you are and you won't be eligible for today's fabulous prize.

Hey! I'm the first to repond. Okay, here it goes.

    1. I don't know who Sanjaya Malakar is, but I couldn't stand sitting next to Rosie or Michael Jackson. Dom Deluise would probably try to make jokes the whole time. So I guess the answer by process of elimination is "A", the unknown Mr. Malakar (or is it Ms. Malakar?)

    2. Breakfast. This is easy. B. Eggs & hashbrowns are my favorite. But could I switch bacon for the ham? Could I also get a cup of decaf? How about a side of toast with blackberry jam? Oh, and also a glass of orange juice? Then this would be perfect.

    3. Why do I read TFTDR? Often is "A," sometimes it is "C", but mostly I find your insights into your life funny, inspiring, and entertaining. Keep up the good work.

  2. 1) Dom Deluise--imagine the stories he could tell!

    2) Buffet--but not 3 plates worth.

    3) I read your blog because I like it. But I will definitely take your meatloaf recipe if you're giving it out...

And I don't want your prize, because I need more friends too!

1.d Sanjaya is a passing fad, Rosie and Michael are way too weird. Dom Deluise would be so much fun to talk with.
    2. d Buffett, but I would take it to a deck chair. I would so like to take a cruise now that I am no longer in the Navy, and could actually enjoy it.
    3. c. I think Cathy reads my blog, but no one ever leaves comments there either. Plus you are funny and insightful. Plus your brother Steve pays me to.

1-B. because it would shock all my Christian friends to know I actually like Rosie.
2-D. buffet- this is America, where everyone’s bigger for a reason! Hello !!
3-E. I sometimes come here when I’m done reading Kelly’s blog because you’re a link.

  5. 1)B. I like her politics...this is true. And I love how she makes all the white boys club in America have a tizzy fit...it is funny.
2)A.I can never pass up a danish and coffee...this morning I stopped in at the Coffee Mine and got my coffee and a pain au chocolat...ah, must get to France someday.
3)A. this is only because like you, Cathy, I am working too much lately!! But truly it is because I love you and have to have a daily dose of my childhood friend...did you have a suspicion that I might really like Rosie? or is this a new revelation? I think Sanjaya and Michael may be related...somewhere...may be Dom and Rosie are to...hmmm

  6. 1. If you had to be in a holding pattern for 2 hours on a plane, who would you rather be seated next to?
honestly, someone who would not talk nor speak to me. i have about the weakest stomach in the world and have been known to throw-up on a plane...recently.

    2. You're on a cruise and can have anything you want for breakfast. You choose:
    c) Orange juice, fruit and yogurt on the Lido deck.

    3. I read "Thoughts From the Deep Recesses" because:
    b) I'm hoping against hope that Cathy will someday share her wonderful meatloaf recipe with the world .

    1. Most definitely NOT Sanjaya. Rosie would be a ball to sit next to.

    2. I'm with Ken 110% on this one. I couldn't have said it better except that the hashbrowns need to be extra crispy with lots of salt and NO coffee. Grapejuice might be healthier than orange juice and is more tasty although I like both. (OK, maybe I did say it better myself but I'm still with Ken overall)

    3. Lots of times it's A but I would read it later in the day anyway because you are family. I'm sucked in to your blog by the fact that you always seem happy and together and I'm trying to figure out how to suck some of that energy my way.

  8. let me just set the record straight - i would've posted even without the bribe. ;) and i think this is a great idea - you should keep doing it. (and look, you already have 8 comments!)

    so anyway:

    1. A - but only if he promises not to sing, and he wears a hat.
    2. A - but only if we can make that "danish" plural. ;)
    3. that's an unfair question - "A" could get me in trouble, but B-D don't apply. how about "i just like what Cathy has to say."

    :)
    happy wednesday?

  9. 1. probably b, at least she'd make me laugh and not think about how unnatural a plane ride is.

    2. Probably b or d. While breakfast is not my favorite meal of the day, while on vacation I usually end up eating more than I need too.

    3. b, and e- just checkin in on a fellow beezieland girl. I'll admit I am usually a lurker, but I'll try better at commenting. PS- I really do want to know how to sell on Ebay. I have a load of stuff I want to get rid of!

    I love multiple choice questions.

    Here goes:

    1) B) I would sit next to Rosie because I think she would be fun to talk to.

    2) b) I've never been on a cruise, but the breakfast in b sounds delicious.

    3) b) Mealoaf recipe, hmmm? I read your blog because you write from the heart and have interesting things to share. I read regularly although I hardly ever comment.

You don't have a place for e-mail, so e-mail me at raseweiss@yahoo.com if I win the prize this week!

  11. no prize necessary friend.

1- Rosie, we could talk crafting, have some debates and some agreements and astound each other with our knowledge of picune minutia, and annoy the people in front and behind with our singing of campfire songs.

2- uh, none of the above? either a diet coke and a bagel on deck, or one trip to the buffet thank you

3- this wasn't an option... 'cause your my friend. ;)

I'm just happy I had time today to respond.

    1. Dom for the seat mate. I used to enjoy watching Rose on her talk show years ago but now she just seems too angry all of the time. And Michael, yuck. Just yuck. I've never seen American Idol and there you have it.

    2. The answer is B. Perhaps on the second day of the cruise I would go to the buffet.

    3. Meatloaf? You have a good meatloaf recipe? I read because I like you!

Hey, how about the band and strings spectacular last night. Nice shirt your son was wearing!

    Copley Family comments:
A: We all choose Sanjaya - only via a process of elimination. No way to Rosie, Mike Jackson is fruity, and Dom and Johnny wouldn't fit well next to each other. So - Hi Sanjaya - PLEASE DON'T SING! But you can smile at Rebecca (she thinks you're cute!)
    B. Buffet - only because Johnny likes Bacon and it wasn't on your list, and Rebecca would go for A because somebody delivering to her room and her not leaving the bed sounds good, but doesn't like coffee, would then go for C, but what's a Lido Deck? - and she knows what a Buffet is. So- Buffet!
    C. Johnny reads it more for choice A - but since it makes "A" freak out - he reads it more! Rebecca doesn't read it because I tell her everything you said - because, honestly, it's funny and I think you could be a writer and publish a book someday! You know - the wise mother publishes a book and makes a million and a new house - so "A" never has to work again! And all because I encouraged you (don't forget that when you cash the check)!

That's all from the Copley's. Good Day!

OK So I'm late. I have been busy all day trying to get ready to go take of my grandchildren !
    1.
Well, Sanjaya was sort of cute so I guess I would go with him.
2.I'd hit the buffet but not with three plates.
    3. I check your blog because I love you and an interested in what you are doing, thinking and feeling.

  15. 1. I don't know any of those people. Can I sit next to a handsome, single man in his early 40's who has a good job and finds me facinating? I wanna sit by him.
    2. d, as in duh! Have you seen those buffets? yum!
    3. that would be e. I read your blog becasue it's the best way to keep up on your life....since you don't really email much, and you never ever call!

  16. What fun!! I am one of your occasional commenters. Usually simply because I don't take the time. So becasue it will put a smile on your face (I hope!) I will play! and you bribed me with Starbucks!

The first 3 questions of "Getting to Know You Wednesday."

    1. If you had to be in a holding pattern for 2 hours on a plane, who would you rather be seated next to?
    Rosie O'Donnell
    Dom Deluise
*tough one. I would want to laugh, and like both of them. Rosie can get too opinionated for me sometimes though.

    2. You're on a cruise and can have anything you want for breakfast. You choose:
)Buffet, baby! Three plates heaped full of whatever you can get your hands on.*Hey it's a cruise! I'll diet when I get home! (although I should have B.

    3. I read "Thoughts From the Deep Recesses" because:

None of the above. I stumbled on it one day, I think from another blog. Enjoyed reading, have a lot in common with Cathy(age, kids, scrapping, faith) and I stuck around!

    ReplyDelete
  17. 1-- wouldn't really matter who I sat next to. If I was in a holding pattern for 2 hours, I'd be reading a book or asleep. :o)

2-a-- I'm not a morning person or a big breakfast fan. So I would rather take my time sleeping in and lazily hanging around the room and eat a danish while I get ready. Although I would give the coffee to my hubby and I would drink a cold diet coke. Mmmmm!

    3--e--Because she makes me smile!

Love you Cathy!! Have a great day!

    ReplyDelete
  18. 1. Back when she had her talk show I would have definitely said Rosie! But, I can no longer stomach her. It seems like every time she opens her mouth she spews anger. So, I'd have to go with Sanjaya because I'd want to hear all the ins and outs of backstage American Idol. Plus, he's thin and wouldn't bleed over into my chair!

    2. c-as long as there is a cup of coffee thrown in!

    3. None of the above! Just cuz' I love ya!!! (And, truth be told, I should get to work!)

    ReplyDelete
  19. 1) C. Michael Jackson. I love his music, for what it is. He's a kind of genius in his genre.

    2) B. Scrambled eggs, ham and hashbrowns in the dining room. I love real breakfast food. I also love dining rooms. Eating in the room is depressing (to me.) On deck? I don't even like boats. Buffets? Have you seen the way people behave at buffets? No thanks.

    3) E. Because Cathy seems like a really, really sweet person.

    Hello, Cathy.

    (Sorry I'm late.)

It came out of the faucet that way.

It's been months since I've had a "Getting to Know You Wednesday." Life's been a little crazy. So today, when life is a little bit calm and I've got the least chaotic week I've had for ages, I thought I'd jump back in. So today, if you leave me a comment telling me your most favorite-ist movie line ever, I'll enter you in a drawing for your very own copy of Josh Groban's new Christmas CD - Noel . It's a good one, folks. Classic holiday music from such a wonderful vocalist... you'll like it, I promise. I just want one movie line. Not your three favorite... not a paragraph. Just one line. The one you find yourself repeating. The one that makes you laugh every time. Your very favorite movie line of all time. And if you're the first person to name the movie my title is from, you'll get an extra entry in the drawing. Now, let's hear it.

Phlumpyschlumpy.

Good morning, peeps. It's Friday. There's frost outside this morning. *FROST!* This week has been ridiculously chilly. I'm having mixed feelings about blogging lately. Mostly because I feel like all I've been doing is whine about being tired. Or overwhelmed. And because comments are lacking. And because I can't seem to think about anything to write about except Tejan. And because some of the thoughts I'm having are too private for the blog - or too repetitive. Or too unformed to turn into actual words you all could understand. So I'm struggling a bit. And yet, I'm committed to documenting the process I'm in. So I'll keep writing when the words come. And when they don't, like this morning, when I looked at that intimidating blinking cursor and my mind went blank and I started to break out in a cold sweat and began by talking about the weather... well, then, I'll just gracefully (or not so gracefully) back out of the room... tail between m...
