Ten

  1. Leaving the post office today I was behind a van for a business specializing in "Cooking Oil Filtration and Fryer Maintenance." Now, I can bet that none of you ever wanted to do that when you grew up...
  2. Lots of scrapbooking paper on ebay this week... clearing out is a good thing.
  3. Cracklin' Oat Bran is the best cereal ever. So yummy. Plus, I love anythin' that leaves of that final 'g'.
  4. Made an appointment today for my pre-cruise pedicure and gel tips for my nails. That'll be nice. I'm using a gift certificate for a local spa that Asia gave me last year for our anniversary... in June. Yea, I'm slow.
  5. School newspaper went out today. Now it's time to start the sixth grade yearbook. How do I end up doing all these things?
  6. The basketball hoop has been getting lots of love lately. Love spring weather and the sound of a ball bouncing outside my window.
  7. I really love Costco. For photo developing. And shredded cheese. And the big box of General Foods International French Vanilla. And grapes. And toilet paper and butter and eggs.
  8. Mending is one of those things that I think I don't want to do, but then when I get out the needle and thread and sit down to do it, I feel all Laura Ingalls Wilder-ish and I love it.
  9. My hair has gotten so long that today when I ran into an old friend from the ex-church, she didn't recognize me. Wow. It's only a couple of inches above my bra strap - that's really long for me... It hasn't been this long since we were engaged...
  10. Look what I found on my door today... sneaky S. went in her room and made if for me after school. Turns out her teacher explained the May Day Basket tradition in class today and she took it upon herself to make one all by herself. So sweet.

  1. I didn't think anyone still carried on the Mayday tradition. Good for S's teacher!

Getting to know you Wednesday

So it's been awhile. But I thought hearing from ya'll might cheer up my little snow encrusted Spokane self. So today, if I get at least 12 comments, I'll randomly pick one and send that lucky commenter any CD from Your Music . Whatever you want. So today, in light of mid-winter doldrums, I want you to answer the following three questions. To escape mid-winter doldrums, I like to: My favorite winter memory is: I know Spring is coming when: Okay, friends. Now it's your turn. Go to it.

The floodgates have opened.

So, I was doing pretty well managing my emotions. I kept telling people that I had processed a lot of my grieving over Tejan's departure back in January - when we were so close to saying goodbye... and so that must be why I wasn't feeling overly emotional about it this time around. I hadn't shed any tears. Hadn't choked up in that strange, overwhelming way where I feel like my whole head is filling up with fluid and my throat is so constricted I'm just sure I'm going to die. Nope. I was doing just fine. And then I went out to dinner with some girlfriends. And while I was a little socially inept because I'm a kind of overwhelmed and not really wanting to talk too much lately (perhaps in subconscious fear that I might touch on a nerve that would cause my aforementioned steely resolve to crumble) I thought I got through the evening fairly well. I didn't tear up - or need tissue for any fluids defiantly leaking from my facial orifices... until I made the a...
