Tuesday Ten

  1. It's been weeks since I've been able to write a Ten on Tuesday. I've actually been thinking about it for the last three days - how fun it was going to be to get back in the groove... and now, I can't think of a thing to write about. Freak.
  2. I read The Glass Castle while in the hospital with T. Have you read it? What an amazing story of resilience. Good stuff.
  3. I've got to get a cello for Savannah - she started orchestra at school and decided the cello was her instrument of choice. I LOVE cello... curious to see what it's going to cost to rent one... gotta get that taken care of today or tomorrow.
  4. It's cool and rainy here today. I think fall may actually be coming. I've begun to see a few leaves turning around town. I love fall so much. My eyes feel as though they aren't big enough to take in all the color - it's just so beautiful.
  5. Got my hair cut a couple weeks ago. I love my hairdresser. LOVE her. But I hate that a haircut that used to cost me $36 (which was hard for me to pay) now costs $50. YIKES! That's just ridiculous. Thank goodness I'm wearing my hair long and can just go in for a trim three times a year.
  6. Tejan went to school yesterday - he only lasted a couple of hours before his legs started aching and he wanted to go home. But he tried. We'll try again today.
  7. The kids had a friend from church come over last night to play... a 22 year old guy who has worked in their Sunday School classes for the last couple of years... he leaves Thursday to teach in France for a year and wanted to spend time with the kids before he left. He had dinner with us then played soccer outside and Wii downstairs until I went down to kick him out and put the kids to bed. My favorite thing about him? He tells the kids to obey and to respect their mama. Gotta love that. We're going to miss you, Jay!
  8. Found a five day cruise out of Long Beach for $209 this morning... during my birthday in February. I have to be in California for CHA from the 10th through the 13th anyway... anyone want to join me? Wouldn't that be fun?
  9. Asia's in Tacoma this week. Tejan has been asking for shrimp for a couple of weeks and I promised him the next time Asia was gone I would make some for him. We had Honey Ginger Shrimp last night. SO yummy. (I can't make it when Asia is home because he hates the smell of seafood... picky, picky!)
  10. Kyler got to go see Weird Al Yankovic at the Spokane Interstate Fair last week. It was very nearly the most exciting event of his life, I believe. He's SUCH a twelve year old.

Happy Tuesday, friends.

Aubrianne had to leave her cello at home while she is away in Slovakia. I wish you lived closer because Savannah would be welcome to borrow the cello for the year until Baub returned.

You are not a freak! If you are, we all are. Like my favorite Buffet line - If we weren't all crazy, we'd all be insane.

    Normal is highly over rated!

Are you ready for this?

How did it get to be Wednesday? Seriously. There aren't enough hours in the day - even when you're up at 2:00 am. And no - I didn't get up at 2:00 this morning. I slept all the way until 5:00! Anywho - I decided I needed something new to blog. Something to shake you all out of your 'thoughts from the deep recesses' stupor. Something to get your blood pumping and your fingers tingling. Something to inspire long and meaningful comments. From you. My beloved readers. It's a new weekly Thoughts From the Deep Recesses feature. It's "Getting to Know you Wednesday" Now this could either be lots of fun, or it could just totally flop, and I could go to bed crying because my blog readers are a bunch of takers who only come here to read and never interact. Like a piece of fresh fruit, you squeeze the juice out of my hard-written and well thought out posts and then you toss them aside, wandering on to the next blog with a simple click of your mouse. You read ...

Good morning, peeps. It's Friday. There's frost outside this morning. *FROST!* This week has been ridiculously chilly. I'm having mixed feelings about blogging lately. Mostly because I feel like all I've been doing is whine about being tired. Or overwhelmed. And because comments are lacking. And because I can't seem to think about anything to write about except Tejan. And because some of the thoughts I'm having are too private for the blog - or too repetitive. Or too unformed to turn into actual words you all could understand. So I'm struggling a bit. And yet, I'm committed to documenting the process I'm in. So I'll keep writing when the words come. And when they don't, like this morning, when I looked at that intimidating blinking cursor and my mind went blank and I started to break out in a cold sweat and began by talking about the weather... well, then, I'll just gracefully (or not so gracefully) back out of the room... tail between m...

It came out of the faucet that way.

It's been months since I've had a "Getting to Know You Wednesday." Life's been a little crazy. So today, when life is a little bit calm and I've got the least chaotic week I've had for ages, I thought I'd jump back in. So today, if you leave me a comment telling me your most favorite-ist movie line ever, I'll enter you in a drawing for your very own copy of Josh Groban's new Christmas CD - Noel . It's a good one, folks. Classic holiday music from such a wonderful vocalist... you'll like it, I promise. I just want one movie line. Not your three favorite... not a paragraph. Just one line. The one you find yourself repeating. The one that makes you laugh every time. Your very favorite movie line of all time. And if you're the first person to name the movie my title is from, you'll get an extra entry in the drawing. Now, let's hear it.
