I'm home for a brief break this afternoon and wanted to let you know what is going on with Tejan.
He had surgery yesterday morning to remove a screw in his left leg - after sending some fluid from the leg to the lab, it was determined he has a staph infection. We won't know until tomorrow what strain of staph we're dealing with. Right now he's on a broad spectrum antibiotic, which will be more fine-tuned after the labs come back tomorrow indicating more specifically what we're dealing with.
I've been told we will be in the hospital for a minimum of one week and up to six weeks, depending on how resistant a strain of staph we're dealing with.
Asia and I are already praying through and discussing how we'll manage this as a family. We're drawing pretty definite boundries as far as how much time I can spend at the hospital and are recruiting lots of help from friends to help us divvy up days so I can tend to the needs of my family as well as be there for Tejan.
He is in good spirits and seems to be feeling pretty good today. He ran a fever yesterday after surgery but it seems to have levelled out now and his pain is decreasing at the incision point.
Please pray with us that we can be home from the hospital sooner rather than later. I can't quite imagine how we'd manage to be split between home and hospital for six weeks - but know we'd manage if we had to.
I will keep you posted as I'm able.
I appreciate your words of encouragement and prayers more than you'll ever know.
Smooches, friends.

ReplyDeleteI'm questioning the "why's" of this all and know there is an amazing answer somewhere. It's in God's sovereignty but I know this can't be easy. Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteHi there. I think it's kind of odd how these things work. God's plan is really so different than mine, usually. I am interested to see what happens next for you, my dear friend.
ReplyDeletesending prayers your way...

"Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."

Cathy,
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about you a lot - you and your family are in my prayers!
Ashley
prayers going up for you my friend...
ReplyDeleteCathy,
ReplyDeleteWe can give thanks that this problem made itself known before Tejan returned home. Complications from surgery do not always show up so soon. I will be praying for this young lad, for you and your family. You amaze me, as does your friend Kelly.
