All-City

Today was the last track meet of the season - the All City Meet, where all the junior high schools in the city send their top two competitors in each event to compete.

Kyler qualified in all three of his events.

His results were great... he got 6th place out of 15 kids in the 1600 meter, running his personal best time of 5:37.

In the 800, he got 5th out of 16 runners.

His high jump results weren't as great - he was REALLY worn out after his 1600 meter run - the sun was really hot and he ran so hard that he felt kind of sick afterwards - so while he jumped the same height as he has in other weeks, he didn't have much get-up-and-go for his jumps...

Of course, he's most excited about getting donuts at their end-of-the-season party Friday morning.

But I'm excited to have seen him have such a succcessful season. It does a Mommy's heart good.

Phlumpyschlumpy.

Good morning, peeps. It's Friday. There's frost outside this morning. *FROST!* This week has been ridiculously chilly. I'm having mixed feelings about blogging lately. Mostly because I feel like all I've been doing is whine about being tired. Or overwhelmed. And because comments are lacking. And because I can't seem to think about anything to write about except Tejan. And because some of the thoughts I'm having are too private for the blog - or too repetitive. Or too unformed to turn into actual words you all could understand. So I'm struggling a bit. And yet, I'm committed to documenting the process I'm in. So I'll keep writing when the words come. Missoula Children's Theater

Last week Savannah and Ethan were both cast in their school's Missoula Children's Theater production of Red Riding Hood. Savannah was cast as Mother Hood and the Grandmother, and Ethan was Robin Hood - the Hood family's cousin from England. After five days of intense rehearsing, (four and a half hours every day after school) they were ready for two shows on Saturday afternoon. It was so fun for them. And fun for me, as I was one of two parent volunteers with the privilege of being at every rehearsal. I come from my own childhood experience of many opportunities with theater and musicals, so watching them experience the thrill of performing was awesome. It was an amazing week. I'm so glad they had the chance to do it. I loved that instead of having to commit to weeks and weeks of rehearsals, they just had to do this one really intense week. A full scale musical production without a month of rehearsing and I didn't have to sew any costumes! That's my kind of pla...
