Ten.

  1. We had a flood in our basement. Such a bummer. It got into our storage room, where it ruined lots of childhood memorabilia and forced a lot of sorting and added a huge pile to the garbage can. It also got into the playroom/Kyler's room, soaking the carpet and pad. Not a happy thing.
  2. And as so often happens, one thing leads to another and the flood led to a very clean basement, a couch removed, new mattresses for Kyler, and a much needed trip to the dump.
  3. But in the summer of so many unexpected expenses, we really did NOT want to spend all the money we had to spend in order to fix everything.
  4. Fortunately, I've recently been assigned to two additional Weight Watcher's meetings, which I'll start leading in a couple of weeks. This will double my income. Yay!
  5. The kids are settling into school - Savannah in particular got a GREAT schedule, with friends in all of her classes. She even has friends near her locker assignment. Kyler wasn't so lucky in his first semester of 7th grade... he hardly knew anyone in any of his classes. I'm so happy for Savannah - it's relieved a lot of her anxiety about starting her new school.
  6. I've got to rent a cello for her in the next couple of days... and am toying with the idea of taking private cello lessons. Yes. Me. It's been ages since I did anything musically and I miss it - I've always wanted to learn how to play the cello - and since I'm paying to rent the cello anyway, if I can find a good source for reasonably priced private lessons, I think it would be SO cool. We'll see... I'm so excited - just thinking about it.
  7. Went to a new doctor yesterday. I've been without a doc for several months - since my previous doctor was dropped by our insurance provider. I found a doc VERY close to home - and REALLY liked him. He spent at least 20 minutes with me - going over concerns and questions and managed to get me into a specialist yesterday for something and scheduled a mammogram for me today. Nice to have little nagging issues taken care of and know I have a doctor.
  8. Discovered that I may have high blood pressure... which is SO frustrating, since I'm at the healthiest weight I've been at in my adult life and exercise every single day... but I've got major hereditary issues - I think everyone in my extended family has dealt with high blood pressure. I have to monitor it over the next couple of weeks and then go back in if it continues to be over a certain mark. Am I getting old? Hmmm.
  9. It's been HOT this week - over 90... which just seems SO wrong with the kids back in school. I'm really ready to start my traditional fall baking and nesting. But I can't start that until the weather cooperates. Hoping the forecast is right and we cool off in a couple of days.
  10. Gracie seems completely healed - and actually in better shape than she was in before the bloat... seems the time she took to recover from her surgery also managed to heal her leg - she hasn't limped since we got back from vacation. I'm so thankful for that. And so thankful that she made it through such a scary episode. As ridiculous as it is to spend what we ended up spending on her, I'll go ahead and say it was worth it. I love my dog. Crazy.

Happy Tuesday friends. Smooch you all.

Phlumpyschlumpy.

Good morning, peeps. It's Friday. There's frost outside this morning. *FROST!* This week has been ridiculously chilly. I'm having mixed feelings about blogging lately. Mostly because I feel like all I've been doing is whine about being tired. Or overwhelmed. And because comments are lacking. And because I can't seem to think about anything to write about except Tejan. And because some of the thoughts I'm having are too private for the blog - or too repetitive. Or too unformed to turn into actual words you all could understand. So I'm struggling a bit. And yet, I'm committed to documenting the process I'm in. So I'll keep writing when the words come. And when they don't, like this morning, when I looked at that intimidating blinking cursor and my mind went blank and I started to break out in a cold sweat and began by talking about the weather... well, then, I'll just gracefully (or not so gracefully) back out of the room... tail between m...

It came out of the faucet that way.

It's been months since I've had a "Getting to Know You Wednesday." Life's been a little crazy. So today, when life is a little bit calm and I've got the least chaotic week I've had for ages, I thought I'd jump back in. So today, if you leave me a comment telling me your most favorite-ist movie line ever, I'll enter you in a drawing for your very own copy of Josh Groban's new Christmas CD - Noel . It's a good one, folks. Classic holiday music from such a wonderful vocalist... you'll like it, I promise. I just want one movie line. Not your three favorite... not a paragraph. Just one line. The one you find yourself repeating. The one that makes you laugh every time. Your very favorite movie line of all time. And if you're the first person to name the movie my title is from, you'll get an extra entry in the drawing. Now, let's hear it.

Happy Birthday Cathy! , originally uploaded by Pink Paper Peppermints . All of these sweet bloggy friends threw me a cyber-birthday party! How fun is that? Thank you, dear friends. I am touched. It's really just what I needed today. Sweet Tanya even made me a cake. If you want to follow the party around cyber-space, you can go to Melissa's blog to see everyone who is participating.
